About the book

A story of blood, brotherhood, and belonging.

In The Town That Bled Love, Eddie Harbert tells the true story of growing up with hemophilia alongside his brothers — a condition they inherited from their mother — in a small town that refused to let them bleed in silence.

From emergency room visits to Little League games, from the fear that came with every bruise to the neighbors who made sure the boys could participate like every other kid, this memoir is a love letter to the teachers, coaches, friends, and strangers who became family.

It is a story about what happens when a community decides that every child deserves a chance to play.
